Jim called the meeting to order at 8 PM. There was a quorum present. Keith moved and Sue seconded the motion to accept the minutes of the March 13 meeting. There was unanimous passage. Norris reported that $25 was received from Richard for dues and he paid no bills since the last meeting. Therefore, the balance is $1889.
Jim and Norris met with Kelly Udall after the last meeting to get the town’s approval for our setting up an account to receive donations for the town to assist in purchasing Woodland Lake Park. Jim checked back with Kelly and he hadn’t contacted or received feedback from the town’s attorney and/or town council members yet. Sue said that Barbara Teague had contacted her for assistance in setting up a foundation for the purchase of Woodland Lake Park. She said that White Mountain Land Trust was in the process of setting up an account for this and that we should work together. There was considerable discussion of this and the result was that we should get a legal opinion before doing anything and all of this may be premature because the town has not decided on the means to acquire Woodland Lake Park. Jim will call Brown and Brown, who have done our legal work previously, to see if they have someone who can help us in this matter.
Norris reported that the stock has been transferred to our account and will be used to generate revenue until it is liquidated. The value is about $5000. He also said that he had spoken with Stephanie Irwin and she will help with our Federal filing (due May 15th) after April 17th. He stated that the filing for the Corporation Commission is in progress.
Sue’s letter (from last month’s meeting) showing our accomplishments will be shortened to one page by Norris who will run off 100 copies to have for the Tejido meeting on April 11th. Sue will bring the banner to that meeting and several members will attend to talk to interested townspeople about the White Mountain Land Trust before and after the Tejido meeting. Lynn will also take the shortened letter and have it inserted in the TRACKS newsletter as the TRACKS board would not consent to our using their mailing list of members.
The decal is “in limbo.” Other promotion ideas were discussed including the theater ad and writing a blurb for inclusion in a Navapache Electric billing mailing. Gretchen noted that Sue’s letter could be included in the Chamber of Commerce newsletter. Keith volunteered to prepare a presentation for the next meeting on the National Land Trust’s articles on doing a Capital Campaign.
Jim adjourned the meeting at 8:55 PM.
