Keith moved and Sue seconded that we continue our membership in the National Land Alliance. Motion passed.
Jim will attend the Conservation Workshop given by AZ Game and Fish on Huston Mesa on June 7, 8, and 9.
Barb B. moved and Dottie seconded that we join the Show Low Chamber of Commerce. Motion passed. The dues are $100 per year.
Dottie, Jim and Lynn will go to National Trails Day at Woodland Lake Park on June 2, 2007. Sue will get the banner to them for this event.
Barbara Teague gave a presentation on the proposal to have a Woodland Park Foundation as a permanent entity to obtain money for the purchase and maintenance of the park. She also gave a Power Point presentation on Billy Creek. A group has formed to submit a grant application for the Billy Creek Riparian Restoration Project to the AZ Dept. of Water Resources for $300,000. Sue moved and Norris seconded that we prepare a letter of support for the grant application. Motion passed. The project area covers ¾ mile of Billy Creek from behind Safeway to Blue Ridge school.
Barb Davis gave a presentation about her video series the first of which is on Woodland Lake Park. It is a 30 min. DVD which could be used as a fund-raising tool. Barb B. moved and Sue seconded that we buy DVDs as needed from Barb Davis for a gift to $100 donors. Motion passed. We purchased 10 to have ready for National Trails Day.
Keith gave an excellent concise presentation on Capital Campaigns. He will e-mail the specific references for the presentation to the board for our background information.
Sue and Barbara Teague will attend the Wetlands/Riparian conference in Park City in the first part of June.
Keith, Ginny and Norris will go to the wildlife workshop, “Economic Benefits of Nature” at the Town Council chambers on June 5th.
Norris showed the choices for the decal and the one was chosen which had yellow lettering, our logo in color, and the web address under the logo. Decals should be available for National Trails Day and will be given to anyone who donates $25. There was discussion about the fact that Norris has too many chores and we should lighten his load by having a corresponding secretary who will thank donors and give them the decal or DVD as needed. This will be discussed at the June meeting as will the terms of board members and need for additional board members since that will be our annual meeting. It is hoped that all board members will be present on June 12, 2007.
Norris reported that the Open Space committee has had 2 meetings canceled recently due to the failure to obtain any developers to attend. He has hopes that the June meeting will allow the committee to meet at least one developer and see the finalization of the town’s open space inventory.
Jim adjourned the meeting at 9:10 PM.
