White Mountains Land Trust

Our Board of Directors

The Trust is governed by a nine-person Board of Directors. Directors serve three year staggered terms and may be re-elected. Election of new directors is by the existing board.

Officers consist of President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. Regular Board meetings are held monthly and are open to the members and public. Most intra-organizational correspondence is conducted by e-mail.

Biographies of Board of Directors

Sharon Adams – Sharon brings a wealth of experience and education to this new position.  She has served with a variety of organizations and boards, participated in award-winning collaborative projects, and is actively involved in several of our region’s community and civic projects.

Sue Sitko – has been a resident of the White Mountains for 13 years, and is currently the White Mountains Program Manager for The Nature Conservancy, a position she’s held for five years. Prior to TNC, she worked for the Arizona Game and Fish Department for 10 years (eight of those years in their Pinetop office). Sue received undergraduate degrees in biology and political science from Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota, and her graduate degree in natural resource management from the University of Arizona. Sue is active with White Mountain Audubon Society, and is an avid birdwatcher. Other interests include flyfishing, hiking, and knitting.

Bob Vahle – is a native of Arizona who has lived in the White Mountains for 32 years.  He worked as a professional wildlife biologist after completing a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Wildlife Biology from Arizona State University.   During his career he worked 13 years for the Arizona Game and Fish Department as the Pinetop Region – Wildlife Program Manager retiring in 2005 and the U.S. Forest Service (22 years) in research and management of which he worked 14 years on the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests.   After retiring, Bob started a consulting business (Biological Visions, Inc.) where he contracted for 3 years with the Intermountain West Joint Venture Program which is focused on habitat conservation for all bird species in the Intermountain West and is administered by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.  Bob currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Arizona Wildlife Federation and the White Mountain Stewardship Monitoring Board.

Jim Anderson – is a graduate of Missouri University with a B. S. in Business Administration.  He became a resident of Arizona in 1972.  He spent over 30 years in the commercial banking and savings and loan industry.  The majority of that career was spent in providing development and construction financing to residential developers and builders.  He has been a resident of Pinetop-Lakeside area for about three and a half years.  He is married to Susie Anderson, who currently is employed with the Pinetop-Lakeside Chamber of Commerce.  He is an avid outdoorsman, with strong interests in hunting, fishing, golf and hiking.  It is through that interest in the outdoors that he is strongly motivated to the goals of The White Mountains Land Trust.

Lynn Krigbaum – moved to Pinetop full time 8 years ago after 30+ years in Phoenix leading science lab activities K-8 @ SS. Simon and Jude School among other things.  She has been active in environmental education, especially Arizona Association of Environmental Educators (formerly Arizona Association for Learning in and about the Environment [AALE] )serving on boards and as President of AALE.  She is currently an avid hiker, skier, enjoys trail maintenance and is Vice President of TRACKS.

Norris Dodd – is a lifelong resident of Arizona and has lived in Pinetop-Lakeside for 20 years. Norris has worked for the Arizona Game and Fish Department for 26 years, including as the Regional Supervisor for the Pinetop Region. For the past 10 years, Norris has been a wildlife research biologist, focusing on wildlife relationships to forest restoration and highways. Norris has bachelor and master of science degrees from Arizona State University. He is past president of the Arizona Chapter of The Wildlife Society. Norris and his wife, Rebecca, have 2 children, Rose ( age 14) and Elizabeth (11).
