Who's Supporting Our Work

A statement about conservation easements from Jim and Clarice Holder:

"This is a very personal decision based on how you value land, its use, and the impacts on the complex eco-community.  It is not a quick decision and is best done when you are sure about what you want for the future of your land and when you have discussed these plans with your family.”

Sharon Adams is New Executive Director

The White Mountains Land Trust is pleased to announce Sharon Adams as its new Executive Director.  Sharon brings a wealth of experience and education to this new position.  She has served with a variety of organizations and boards, participated in award-winning collaborative projects, and is actively involved in several of our region’s community and civic projects.

The White Mountains Land Trust is a nonprofit organization with a mission to conserve and steward natural areas in perpetuity, including open spaces, riparian zones, and wildlife habitat, to enhance the quality of life for all who enjoy and appreciate the beauty of the White Mountains.

“I believe it is important to be involved and bring forth a positive influence to impact our communities on critical growth, planning, recreation, and resources issues," states Sharon.  As Executive Director of an organization whose Board members have a diverse background ranging from banking to biology, Sharon emphasizes that “Sharing our talents and knowledge is our passion. Great things can happen when we work together.”

One of the overall goals of the White Mountains Land Trust is to foster a balance between growth and conservation of important natural areas, recognizing the region’s critical need for employment and for using area resources wisely.  Sustainable growth and employment can be balanced with maintaining our quality of life and the natural resources that attract residents and visitors to this area. Sharon adds that “meaningful management of open spaces and natural resources by our communities is critical to an area’s economic sustainability and success.”
