About Our OrganizationOur MissionWorking to conserve and steward in perpetuity natural areas, including open spaces, riparian zones, and wildlife habitat, to enhance the quality of life for all who enjoy and appreciate the beauty of the White Mountains |
Our HistoryOn January 17, 2004 a group of concerned citizens met in Pinetop-Lakeside to hear Mike Rigney of the Desert Foothills Land Trust speak on the role and benefits of Land Trusts in helping to preserve open space and enhance our environment. Thereafter, a small group was formed to lay the groundwork for the creation of a land trust here in the White Mountains. As a consequence of their efforts, the Trust was incorporated June 10, 2004 as the White Mountains Land Alliance. It does business as the White Mountains Land Trust. During the following year, a Board of Directors was formed, bylaws written, application made for 501c-3 status, brochures were produced, and several land projects were persued.
