Who's Supporting Our Work

A statement about conservation easements from Jim and Clarice Holder:

"This is a very personal decision based on how you value land, its use, and the impacts on the complex eco-community.  It is not a quick decision and is best done when you are sure about what you want for the future of your land and when you have discussed these plans with your family.”

Our History

On January 17, 2004 a group of concerned citizens met in Pinetop-Lakeside to hear Mike Rigney of the Desert Foothills Land Trust speak on the role and benefits of Land Trusts in helping to preserve open space and enhance our environment.

Thereafter, a small group was formed to lay the groundwork for the creation of a land trust here in the White Mountains. As a consequence of their efforts, the Trust was incorporated June 10, 2004 as the White Mountains Land Alliance. It does business as the White Mountains Land Trust.

During the following year, a Board of Directors was formed, bylaws written, application made for 501c-3 status, brochures were produced, and several land projects were persued.
